For Immediate Release 2019-2020 Season Update
In preparation for the 2019-2020 season, the Vito’s are drawing on experience and leadership from within their organization, announcing that Team Staff member Alex Carter will take the reins as Head Coach and one of Hockey New Brunswick’s most respected and accomplished members, Moe Arseneault, has been promoted to Director of Hockey Operations. “Our organization is all about helping people do the best they can, and that includes our team staff. Alex has been a coach that we’ve had our eyes on for some time, and we were glad that he joined us last season as an assistant coach. He has exceptional coaching experience and he’s had the incredible opportunity to learn from Randy and Tim Jones and the rest of our staff, as well, including Moe Arseneault and Mark MacDonnell, so we have confidence that Alex will do great things for our program”, says George Georgoudis, a Director of the Vito’s franchise and a member of Saint John’s famous Georgoudis hockey family. In addition to his work in the Vito’s organization, Carter has a stellar resume that includes 5 years as head coach of the KV Bantam AAA Major Kings and 3 seasons as an assistant coach in the KV Midget AAA Spartans organization. He is a Hockey Canada High Performance-certified coach and he has experience coaching in the Hockey New Brunswick Program of Excellence, as well. Moe Arsenault has been recognized as one of hockey’s best people, having received the prestigious HNB Vance Toner Hockey Development Award and Hockey Canada’s Gordon Juckes Award.
Carter will be joined by returning coach Mark MacDonnell as well as long-time trainer Colin MacKenney and newly appointed Assistant Coaches Phil Richer and Brad Tesink. Richer and Tesink each bring a wealth of elite coaching and playing experience to the Vito’s organization; after completing their Junior A and Major Junior careers, they have achieved High Performance Coach designations and have coached elite-level teams, including Hockey New Brunswick High Performance teams that have competed in regionally and nationally. Richer most recently coached the 2019 New Brunswick Canada Games team, while Tesink is the Head Coach of the 2019 Hockey New Brunswick Male Under 14 Atlantic Challenge Cup team.
