SAINT JOHN MAJOR MIDGET AAA VITO’S APPOINT TIM JONES AS TEAM MANAGER

The Saint John Vito’s of the New Brunswick-Prince Edward Island Major Midget AAA Hockey League are pleased to announce that Tim Jones has accepted a promotion to the program’s new position of Team Manager.

Tim Jones brings a wealth of hockey, business and philanthropic knowledge and experience to the position, including:

· He is an alumnus of the Vito’s program and served as its captain during his playing days before competing as a Junior A player in Ontario and eventually playing in the semi-finals of Canada’s senior hockey championship, the Allan Cup

· He has coached hockey at a variety of levels and has most recently been an Assistant Coach to his brother, Randy Jones, in the Vito’s program

· He is a successful business owner and educator in southern New Brunswick with involvement in several enterprises

· He has led several important charitable initiatives, including a $650,000 campaign to raise funds for the Saint John Regional Hospital and a not-for-profit summer hockey program that provided local youth hockey players with free opportunities to learn the game under instruction from NHL players.

The new role of Team Manager is a natural fit for Tim, who has demonstrated not only a passion for the sport of hockey but also for the development of Vito’s players as athletes and future leaders. As Team Manager, Tim will focus on advancing Vito’s players as athletes, competitors, students and leaders by designing and implementing individualized development plans in conjunction with the Vito’s Team Staff, including its coaches, strength & conditioning consultants and trainer. The Vito’s are extremely proud to announce Tim Jones as the program’s Team Manager and are sincerely thankful for his past and future investment of wisdom and hard work for southern New Brunswick’s elite hockey players.

The Saint John Major Midget AAA Vito’s are southern New Brunswick’s premiere Midget-aged elite hockey players. In recent years, the Vito’s have enjoyed five consecutive appearances in the New Brunswick Championship final, two berths in the Atlantic Championship final and a silver medal in the national Telus Cup Championship. The Vito’s have a strong track record in player development and advancement, with Vito’s graduates earning prestigious placements on Hockey Canada national teams, early round QMJHL draft selections and other honours. The NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League provides strong and stable competition and structure for the Vito’s, with perennially tough opponents in Bathurst, Charlottetown, Fredericton, Kensington and Moncton.
